This course is best understood when we clearly define what we mean by an "Urban Rifle or Carbine". In general terms we are referring to a semi-automatic rifle, fed by a box magazine that fires a medium powered rifle cartridge or handgun round. In most cases the barrel length is 18 inches or less and the aiming device used is either iron sights or a quick acquisition gunsight (ACOG, EoTech, Aimpoint). This course covers the operational aspects of this type of rifle and introduces techniques necessary for operation of the rifle under stress conditions. All exercises are done at either medium range (< 100 yards) or close range (< 25 yards).

  • Basic Rifle Operation
  • Loading and Unloading
  • Basic Malfunction Clearances
  • Shooting Positions (standing, kneeling, prone)
  • Carry and Deployment Positions
  • Situational Awareness
  • Stress Reloading
  • Evasive Movement
  • Transitions to Pistol
  • This course involves approximately 8 hours of practical skills drills and shooting on the range to build skill and familarity with your rifle.

    Required equipment includes:

  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • Rifle / Carbine with a Sling
  • Minimum of two 30 round magazines or four 10 round magazines for Rifle.
  • Pistol and Strong Side Holster (No IWB holsters are allowed if you use a chest rig.)
  • Magazine Carrier (Pistol)
  • Dump Pouch
  • Knee Pads (strongly recommended)
  • Elbow Pads (optional but recommended)
  • Two Magazines or Speed Loaders
  • 150 Rounds of Rifle Ammunition
  • 50 Rounds of Pistol Ammunition
  • Course Size is Limited to 12 Persons to Insure Individual Attention and Coaching for Each Student!
